Our favourite resort in the world!
We have just enjoyed three blissful weeks at the Royal Heights Resort - our third visit - and we can’t wait to return again. We stay in one of the beautiful two bedroom villas with a private pool and although we hired a car for the first week, we have been very content to stay in the villa, relax and enjoy the surroundings.
This hilltop resort has so much to offer. Beautifully maintained gardens, wonderful swimming pools (private and public, indoor and outdoor), a fabulous restaurant (where we have eaten every day because the food is amazing), large gym, spa, massive indoor soft play area for children, conference and wedding facilities, private chapel...
Most of all, we love the people - the service is excellent and we are always made to feel very welcome. Talking to other guests it seems that almost everyone is a return visitor. Once you have stayed here, you will want to return!

What can I say other than it was great!
We had decided to take a few days off and fly out to Crete and discovered the Royal Heights on the hillside overlooking Malia town. We had never been to this part of the island before, but the Royal Heights looked to be exactly what we were looking for.
Even before we left the UK I received a telephone call from Athina, on the front desk, to find out our flight arrival time, to allow them to service our room, and to see if we needed transport from the airport. Now that’s what I call personal service!
A five-star resort at an amazing price; the photographs on the website made it look quite spectacular. When we arrived we were not disappointed. It really did live up to expectations.
We arrived in Crete quite early in the day and drove to the hotel arriving well before check-in, but we received a warm welcome from George on the front desk from where he escorted us to the restaurant for a welcome drink and light refreshments. Something we had not expected but this would not be the last time our expectations were to be exceed!
After a short while George took our cases and showed us to our room (105); once again it was just as we had seen in the photographs.
Having shown us all the facilities, including the complementary bottle of wine and fruit in the fridge, George left us to relax.
We met Athina on our first evening and she made sure that everything was to our satisfaction – it was.
We were fortunate to have chosen half-board accommodation. The restaurant was excellent, including the view over Malia, not to mention the four-course meal. A great selection, well prepared and served at our table by our waiter Kostas, who could not have been more attentive. There were so many choices on the table d’hote menu that we never ate the same dish more than once throughout our stay. They also have an extensive wine list with many wines from local vineyards – well worth sampling!
The following day breakfast was just as enjoyable. Johanna, greeted us, showed us the hot and cold buffet taking our order for eggs which promptly arrived at our table.
We spent most of our days out visiting Heraklion, Knossos and so many more local historic sites and the natural beauty of Crete. This included a very bumpy ride and 2 kilometres walk to Balos beach. Quite a challenge but so spectacular – hire a car if you can, it’s worth it.
Each day we returned to enjoy the superb swimming pool and relax on the sun loungers. We did not have a private pool, and weren’t expecting one, with our accommodation. Had we have stayed in one of the villas this would have been different and a definite plus – maybe next time.
Every day we received the same friendly attention from our hosts and by the time we left we very much felt part of the Royal Heights family.
Would we recommend the Royal Heights – most certainly. Are we going to stay there again – no doubt! 5 star in all respects.
To all the team, but especially Athina, Kostas, Johanna, George and Despina, ευχαριστώ (thank you).

We Love this hotel
Me and my husband have stayed at this hotel 5 times and it never lets itself down. 2 years ago we got married here and to say it was perfect is an understatement and a day us and our friends will never forget, many of our family and Friends have returned for holidays.
The staff at this hotel are what really makes it, you should be so very proud of the team you have in place Athena and Pavlos give amazing customer service and are a credit to your hotel, year after year we have been looked after by them and treat us as family returning home, they care so much about the hotel and have a real passion for looking after all your guests. Despoina in reception gives brilliant customer service, Kostas and Anastasia that work in the restaurant at night are lovely, working really hard to please all guests and are doing a fab job.
The food here is amazing and the choice fantastic, the chefs do a fabulous job as do all the behind the scene staff such as maids and gardening.
Villas are lovely and a high level of accommodation. How anyone can give this hotel a bad review I will never know.
I could write this review forever saying how wonderful this hotel is I suggest you go try it for yourself.
To all the team at Royal Heights thank you for everything, keep up the great work and we hope to see you all next year :)
